ENOUGH ABOUT ME, WHAT ABOUT ME?

Erik Casillas is a Southern California-born and raised artist. After learning early on in grade school that drawing pictures for the teacher got him out of doing schoolwork, and drawing pictures for girls effectively afforded him opportunity to talk to girls, the choice was obvious.

Starting his graphic professional life in the Action Sports industry was so much fun that Erik stayed for over 25 years. The longest stop was No Fear clothing company where he was in the art department for 20 years, half of those as the art director.  He has also done work for Jet Pilot, Life's a Beach, Gotcha, Hang Ten, THOR, Grenade, So Cal, and Speedo.

Eventually moving to the skate world, he found an arena where the fun illustrations that he created were right at home. Creating decks for DGK skate was easily one of the most satisfying illustration gigs that he found and continues to be a client he enjoys working with a great deal.

In the 90s Erik began to work with bands, initially designing merch, and that led to his relationship with Mötley Crüe. Being a fan since high school, working with the band was never boring and came with unlimited encouragement always to do things as he felt they should be done. The two album covers he did as well as the endless  tee shirts and logos makes that time memorable professionally as well as personally.

Presently Erik is still creating skate deck art as well as logos and illustrations. Some of his past customers include Disney Parks, Disney Stores, Warner Brothers, Penske Corp, The Daytona 500, Live Nation, Barrel Harbor Brewing and Dynamikos Optics.

Erik lives in North County San Diego with his family and you should totally ask them how funny Erik is. They love when people do that.
